Legacy Continues

This kitchen project holds a unique story for the designers at Creative Kitchen Designs, Inc.

The home was originally built in 1999 and just recently acquired new younger homeowners who liked the layout of the kitchen, but wanted a more updated transitional look to suit their refined tastes.

So, the homeowners reached out to contractor Daniel Bruzas, owner of Dan Bruzas, LLC, and Creative Kitchen Designs’ designer, Danielle Bohn, CKBD to redesign their kitchen. Danielle was delighted and eager to start the job for the new homeowners and was surprised to discover that the original kitchen was designed by her co-worker/employer, Hollie M. Ruocco, CMKBD, 17 years ago!

“At first glance I did not realize that it was a kitchen that Hollie had originally designed, but once I discovered that the cabinets were from Dura Supreme Cabinetry, I started looking at the kitchen a little closer and recognized little details that portrayed Hollie’s design style.” It was later confirmed by Hollie herself that she did indeed design the kitchen for the home’s original homeowners when the house was being newly built.

Danielle stated that, “Hollie did a superb job with the original layout that I was able to utilize the original floor plan with some minor changes and focus more on personalizing the kitchen to my clients’ preferences. We enhanced the storage areas further by incorporating a mixer lift, utensil pull-out storage, spice rack, a bread drawer and creating a beautiful built-in hutch for my client’s collection of fine china.”

We also extended the height of the cabinetry to the ceiling to maximize storage and create the illusion of height to the kitchen. A classic white finish was chosen for the perimeter and a gray stain finish for the island was selected to create a modern, fresh look for the young couple.
