Cape Cod Meets Alaska

This lovely cape-cod inspired house was built for a retired husband and wife wanting their forever home.

When they came up with the layout and colors for the house, they looked to their previous house for inspiration. Having loved that there was a colorful red island in their previous kitchen, they decided to keep this island colorful with a custom color from Dura Supreme Cabinetry called Salty Dog. This beautiful ocean blue ties into the blue countertop they have on the perimeter of the kitchen. They also both enjoyed having an island in their previous kitchen, but decided to make it much larger, for more storage and counter space.

Keeping with the theme of their previous house, the wife had a beautiful antique hutch that she wanted to replicate, so they went with with a custom hutch from Dura Supreme Cabinetry made from quarter-sawn oak.

Although there are many amenities, counter space, and storage solutions that would make most adults perfectly content, they also wanted a space for their grand children to be able to enjoy as well. They decided to create a unique play area under the stairs, a space that is not normally utilized, in which their grand children can play.

With all of its hidden play areas, inspired pieces from a previous home, and decided uniqueness, their house is now a beautiful reality of their initial conception, creating a extraordinary, inviting, and charming space for everyone in their family to enjoy.
